This blog is intended to provide American Hospital Association members with a daily update as the U.S. Supreme Court hears oral arguments on the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA).  Members can tune in daily for a synopsis of the day’s arguments and a chance to ask questions of the AHA’s outside counsel.  In addition, relevant news coverage will be posted each morning.

Dominic Perella is one of the lead authors of the AHA’s briefs on the constitutionality of ACA.  Dom practices Supreme Court and appellate litigation at Hogan Lovells US LLP in Washington, D.C.  He has argued before a range of appellate courts and has briefed numerous cases before the Supreme Court and the federal circuits. He was named, and one of his arguments mentioned, in the National Law Journal’s 2011 Appellate Hot List.  Dom graduated summa cum laude from the New York University School of Law and subsequently served as a judicial clerk to The Honorable Sandra L. Lynch, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.  Prior to law school, he worked as a reporter and editor for The Associated Press, covering (among other things) the federal courts and the Virginia legislature.
